Last time, we explored how true unity demands the hard work of forgiveness. Today, we look at the ultimate goal. It's easy to say you forgive someone, but sadly, "talk is cheap". We can claim to forgive someone yet still want nothing to do with them, withholding our trust and keeping our distance.

Consider Peter's situation. After denying Jesus three times, he was likely crushed and deeply ashamed. Yet, Jesus didn't just forgive Peter from a distance. He actively restored him; Jesus's three questions forcing Peter to declare his love three times restored Peter to Himself.

We are challenged by Jesus not only to forgive, but to go beyond that to actual restoration. Moving past cheap talk into true restoration is the heart of the Gospel.
